Smallholder agriculture is critical to improving livelihoods and food security in developing communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Farmers use the media to gain access to agricultural information that will help them improve their farming practises and profitability.
The effectiveness of using mass media in facilitating access to agricultural information among growers is far-reaching because it provides some communicative interconnections even in isolated environments, and utilities in realising farmers living in isolated regions.
According to current literature, mass media play an important role in disseminating effective information to smallholder farmers in order for them to improve their livelihoods. The use of mass media aids agricultural decision-making by providing necessary information on farming, high-yielding seeds, fertilisers, biopesticides, soil fertility, pest and disease diagnosis, and market information.
